ECGC Limited releases its recruitment notification for the ECGC PO post. If you wish to join ECGC Limited as a probationary officer, then this is a golden opportunity for you. However, the examination is highly competitive, and you thus need to prepare well. For this, you should be well versed with the examination syllabus and the ECGC PO exam pattern. This will let you start your preparation well in advance and thus increase your chances of acing the examination.
As per the ECGC PO exam pattern 2024, there will be two stages in the examination. The first stage will be the written examination, and the second is the interview. There will be two levels in the online written examination. One will be an objective test, and the other will be a descriptive test. The interview section is allotted 60 marks. The candidate needs to clear the written and the interview round to be eligible for the post. The weightage is 80:20 for the online examination and the interview. The examination pattern is such that the candidates are thoroughly judged on each subject individually.
The ECGC PO syllabus for the written examination can be found on the official website. The candidates are tested on various subjects. These are Reasoning Ability, English Language, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude. Make sure to refer to the latest syllabus so that you are up to date with any changes.
As per the latest ECGC PO exam pattern, the candidates have to appear for the exam in online mode. The candidate will have to compete and qualify in both the tests and score the minimum marks to be eligible for the ECGC PO post. The online test is an MCQ pattern test. The descriptive paper starts only once the complete time for the objective paper is over. The candidate will have to type in their answers to the descriptive paper online on a computer. In the objective paper, too the candidate has to mark the correct answer on the computer. There are sectional timings in each section of the objective paper. The candidate will be awarded 1 mark for every right answer, and there will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The candidates need to clear both levels to reach the next selection round in the ECGC PO exam pattern.

The descriptive paper carries a total of 40 marks and needs to be completed in 40 minutes. There will be two sections here. One will be essay writing, and the other will be precis writing. The candidate will be given two options in each section to choose from. The candidate has to answer two questions in the section, and each question carries 20 marks.
The candidates who clear the written exam and score the ECGC PO cutoff marks are called for the interview rounds. The interview stage carries 60 marks, and the candidate should qualify in this round too. There are minimum qualifying marks also set for each category of student. The candidates who belong to the unreserved category need to score at least 40% of the total marks. The candidates who belong to the SC/ST, OBC and PWBD categories need to score 35% of the total marks. There is an 80:20 weightage ratio in the online examination and the interview.

The amount varies as per the grade and deductions. On average, an ECGC PO will receive an in-hand pay of ₹53,029 per month.
The candidates do not necessarily need to have any work experience to meet the ECGC PO eligibility criteria. However, if a candidate has any adverse remark from the previous employer, then their candidature will stand cancelled.
