GATE Mechanical Engineering

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level entrance exam for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering and science disciplines. GATE Mechanical 2023 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in February 2023. The exam will be held online in a computer-based mode across various centers in India and abroad. The exam will test the candidates' aptitude and knowledge in their chosen subject area. The exam will consist of multiple-choice and numerical answer type questions. The duration of the exam will be three hours and the total marks will be 100. The syllabus and pattern of the exam will vary depending on the paper code chosen by the candidates. The candidates who qualify the exam will be eligible for admission to various institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other reputed colleges and universities. The candidates will also be able to apply for various scholarships and fellowships offered by the government and private organizations. The candidates who wish to appear for GATE Mechanical 2023 must register online through the official website of GATE Mechanical 2023. The registration process will start from September 2022 and end by October 2022. The candidates must pay the required application fee and upload the necessary documents such as photograph, signature, category certificate, etc. The admit card for GATE Mechanical 2023 will be available for download from January 2023. The candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof to the exam center. The result of GATE Mechanical 2023 will be declared in March 2023 on the official website. The candidates can check their scorecard and rank by entering their registration number and password. The scorecard will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of result. Negative Marking

For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there will be negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ and NAT question.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have completed a mock test. When will I get my score?

On submission of your mock test, your score and All-India rank would be immediately generated. The All India ranking is dynamic in nature and it would change as more users attempt that mock test.

Can I attempt a test more than once? +

A test can be attempted only once. However, you can review the solutions and analysis of the attempted tests as many times as you want.

What happens if I get disconnected during a test? +

If you get disconnected while attempting a test, all your data till the disconnection will get saved and you will be able to resume from the same state later. You are advised to close the test window in this case and resume when you have connectivity again.

A mock test was made live on April 10, 2017. Am I supposed to attempt the test on that date itself? +

No, you may attempt and view analysis/solution of that test on any date and time till the validity as per your convenience.
