SSC conducts the SSC CHSL recruitment in two stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2, both conducted via Computer-Based Exam (CBE). The Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature, while Tier 2 is important for determining the final merit. Along with that, there will be a post-specific Skill Test/Typing Test.
Tier 1 is the initial screening round, designed to test a candidate's basic understanding across four core subjects. Passing Tier 1 is important to appear in the Tier 2 exam.

Tier 2 is comprehensive and decisive for the final selection. It is split into Session I (merit-deciding) and Session II (qualifying tests). Marks from Section-III of Session-I do not count towards the merit list.
