Factors Affecting the SSC CHSL Cut Off

The commission decides the cut off marks by keeping various factors in mind. Below, we have mentioned those factors by which they provide the SSC CHSL cut off marks.

  • Number of Vacancies: Cut-off marks depend on the number of vacancies released by the commission. A large number of vacancies means, commission will recruit more candidates, which means the cut-off marks will be lower.
  • Exam Difficulty Level: If the exam is tough, then fewer candidates will be able to attempt the exam effectively, which can lead to lower cut off marks.
  • Number of Candidates Appeared in the Examination: A large number of candidates appearing in the exam means there will be high competition, which can be a reason for having a high cut off.
  • Category-wise Reservation: There is a system of category reservation, and cut off will be released according to category, due to which it may vary from category to category. So it can affect the overall cut off marks.
  • Normalization of Marks: Exam will be conducted in multiple shifts with varying difficulty levels, due to which the final cut off may differ.
