SSC CHSL Vacancy 2025

The number of SSC CHSL vacancies which was there in the official notification (released on June 23, 2025) has 3,131 vacancies. These include Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A'. The number of vacancies is determined based on requirements from participating ministries and departments. However, a detailed vacancy notification will come later, which will include the actual requirements of different departments. This number of 3,131 may increase or decrease in the detailed vacancy notification which also has information of category-wise distribution.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2025

Being eligible for SSC CHSL is non-negotiable. If you apply for this exam without meeting the eligibility criteria, your application will be cancelled and all your efforts will go in vain. SSC CHSL eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit and educational qualification. These criteria are set in such a way so as to ensure that only suitable candidates can apply for this exam. Nationality Criteria

An applicant must be:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the explicit intention of permanently settling in India
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific countries—namely Pakistan, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka, the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam—with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit

An applicant must be between 18-27 years of age as of January 1, 2026. In other words,  must have been born no earlier than January 2, 1999, and no later than January 1, 2008 (both dates inclusive), to be considered eligible. There are certain relaxation for certain categories. Details are below:

SSC provides a link each time a fresh notification is released from which interested applicants can apply for this exam. The link to ‘Apply Online' for the SSC CHSL exam is generally active on the very day the notification gets released. This year, it has already been provided on June 23, 2025, and the last date to apply online was July 18, 2025. Aspirants who are interested in applying for this exam must fill their forms very carefully. Any error on their part can lead to cancellation of their application which obviously no one wants.

Steps to Apply Online SSC CHSL

  • Next click on the tab "Apply." Now click on the "Combined Higher Secondary Level" exam.

  • Now, You can select any three examination centres within the same region

SSC CHSL 2025 Application Fees

Applicants who want to apply for SSC CHSL exam have to pay an application fee of Rs 100. This payment has to be made only via online mode. Please note that Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2025

The selection process comprises 2 phases: Tier-1 and Tier-2. Candidates who clear Tier-1 will be eligible to take the Tier-2 exam. SSC CHSL Tier-1 is an objective-type computer-based test, and Tier-2 is an objective-type and skill/ typing test. Have a look at the details below:

  • Tier-1 is a computer-based exam consisting of MCQs (multiple-choice questions) of 200 marks with 0.5 negative markings for each incorrect answer.
  • The duration of this exam is 60 minutes.
  • Questions will be available in both English and Hindi mediums except for the English Language (Basic Knowledge) section.
  • Candidates who clear the overall cut-offs of Tier-1 exams will proceed to the next stage which is the Tier-2 exam.

SSC CHSL 2025 Job Profile

SSC conducts the SSC CHSL exam to recruit candidates for various posts such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator, Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA), etc. Each post has its own role and responsibilities, and each post has its own promotions and salary increments. Below, we have explained job roles and responsibilities.

1. Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): LDC and JSA are the operational backbone of the government offices. Their core responsibilities are file & record management, data entry & correspondence, assisting senior officers, maintaining office workflow, etc. If we talk about promotion under this post, then you can be promoted as an upper division clerk, then a division clerk, and then a section officer, etc.

2. Data Entry Operator: The Data Entry Operator's work is to manage the large amounts of government data. Their main work is to keep official records by keeping in mind precision and speed. One can be a senior DEO after being hired as a DEO, then he/she can be a data processing assistant, and then a system analyst.

3. Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA): PA and SA are one of the most important posts of the SSC CHSL. Under this post, employees ensure that communications and parcels move seamlessly throughout the country. One who gets selection as PA and SA at the entry level can be promoted to LSG Supervisor, then senior supervisor, and then chief supervisor.

SSC CHSL 2025 Admit Card

Aspirants who applied for the SSC CHSL exam will become eligible to appear in the exam, which is conducted in various centers across the country. Before conducting the exam, SSC releases the admit card, which is an important and mandatory document to get entry into the examination hall. So basically, it is an entry pass to appear in the exam. You can expect the release of the admit card within 7-10 days before the exam.

Steps to download SSC CHSL Admit card

  1. Visit the SSC's official website [ssc.gov.in]
  2. Click on the "Login or Register" button, provided on the top-right corner of the homepage.
  3. Enter your login credentials, such as "Username (Registration Number)" and "Password (SSC Registration Password)"
  4. After logging in, click on the "Admit Card" button.
  5. Find and click on "Download E-Admit Card of Combined Higher Secondary Level, 2025".
  6. SSC CHSL 2025 admit card will be displayed. Download it and check the information carefully.
  7. Take a printout and take it to the examination hall to appear in the exam.

SSC CHSL Answer Key 2025

SSC will release the SSC CHSL answer key 2025 after the conduct of the SSC CHSL exam. SSC releases the answer key so that candidates can calculate their estimated marks (the result will be released after it) who appeared in the exam. They can access their answer key by logging in to the SSC's official website using their login credentials.

SSC CHSL Cut-Offs
