Important Events Explained

If you are aiming for a seat at the central bank for the first time, here is what these stages entail and how to approach them:

Official Notification & Application Window

The notification was released on February 16, 2026, marking the start of a 21-day window to apply. Successful candidates usually complete their registration within the first week to avoid the heavy traffic and technical glitches that often plague the website on the final day, March 8th.

Online Preliminary Examination

Scheduled for April 11, 2026, the Prelims is a screening test consisting of three sections: Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and English. Since the marks from this stage aren't counted for the final merit list, your focus here should be on speed and accuracy to cross the high cut-offs typical for RBI.

Online Main Examination

This is the most critical stage, set for June 7, 2026. Your final selection depends heavily on your performance here. The Mains include two additional subjects: General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. Since you have roughly eight weeks after the Prelims, this is the "golden window" to master current affairs and banking awareness.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

After the Mains, provisionally selected candidates must undergo the LPT. This test evaluates your ability to read, write, speak, and understand the local language of the state you applied for. Note that the LPT is mandatory and qualifying in nature; failing this will lead to disqualification regardless of your Mains score.

Final Result & Provisional Allotment

The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination, provided the candidate qualifies in the LPT and meets the medical fitness standards. This is the day you officially join the "Bankers' Bank."
